Symptoms of Dry Eye

Please note that if you have had a new or sudden onset of any of these symptoms or have any concerns, we request that you call us before booking.

  • The most common symptom of Dry Eye Syndrome is a feeling of dryness in the eyes. This can be accompanied by a scratchy, gritty, or burning sensation.

  • The eyes may appear red or bloodshot due to the lack of moisture.

  • Dry eyes can cause blurred vision or difficulty focusing, especially during activities such as reading or using a computer.

  • Dry eyes can make the eyes more sensitive to light and cause discomfort in bright or sunny environments.

  • Paradoxically, dry eyes can sometimes cause excessive tearing as the eyes try to compensate for the lack of moisture or as they become more sensitive to the environment.

  • Dry eyes can cause eye fatigue, especially after prolonged screen use.

  • Other symptoms of Dry Eye Syndrome may include a feeling of heaviness or discomfort in the eyes, as well as a feeling that there is something in the eye.
